No boost at all...
So after I had my car back from the mechanic (a very bad mechanic) my car did not run at all. they told my fuel pump was dead and so the car did not run. Back home I called a specialist to have a look at the car to get it all right. Because I have to wait until the 5 of august I can not wait to get my hands dirty. I checked fuel pumps and find out it was only a bad contact on the relays. problem solved. the car still did not start. Checked ignition which was not set right. set it myself in the right position. problem solved. but stilll it did not run. checked my fuel delivery and my Afr was far off!! so after solving this problem the car finally runs. next problem .... I don't have any boost at all. checked turbo to spin freely, it does spin fine. checked waste gate, no leak...
What other thing can cause having no boost at all? They have removed the engine in the shop so probably have done more bad things... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/a_frusty.gif Any suggestions are very welcome!!! Next time I will be more careful where to send my car. a bad experience is also an experience.... |
does the car have any boost control other than wastegate pressure?

The engine is stock euro 1978
Only upgrade at this moment is a header mufler and cams. |

I would have to agree with OilOnly, make sure your vacuum hoses are installed correctly on wastegate, and check for leaks around intercooler and piping.
Why was the motor removed to begin with? |

Well to solve oil leak problems, flywheel, k27 , cams, trans revision etc... I'm still fishing to get the wiring right for my vdo boost gauge. But I clearly hear no boost. my car was almost a year in that shop ... I'm sorry to myself :D |
Check to see if you're getting full throttle. I wouldn't get any boost because that throttle connector under the car went bad.
|
when it should get in boost the car does not run well. To much fuel when it does not have any boost? I checked trotlle before.
But I will do check it again. |
fuel pumps does not switch off to when I turn on the key.
When I push the throttle plate I hear the relays clicking in the left of the engine bay...witch means it's an electrical problem,Damn! I'm lucky I have you guy's on pelican to help me out! Thanks to all of you! |

my first thought is you sound pretty competent so why send it to a mech in the first place.
i would be afraid something has fallen down into the turbo keeping it from spinning. the only other way for no boost is a big air leak. just go thru the intake starting at the turbo, up pipe IC etc. once you figure the boost out, go back and start with fuel pressures, timing, ignition then mixture. |
OK, so this might be a silly question, but what the heck ...
You are driving the car when you're looking for boost, right? |

So before I look further to the boost problem other thing have to be done first.
My boost gauge is not working to, I get full boost reading all the time, even if I disconnect the wire from the boost sender... Can someone check if these wires are connected the right way? It's hard to find in the manual as it's blur. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1373439962.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1373439989.jpg |
This makes me sick!!!

There was 1 guy in the shop that had experience but he left I think. that's what happened. |
To be clear I will order a connector like it should be...
Hard to discribe what I feel! Thanks for distrying my car MB-Power in Herentals is uw autospecialist van dienst - garage - MB-Power Bvba - Herentals |
Might try removing the yellow relay in the rear left engine comp. and jumping the two female pins in the 6 and 4 o'clock positions (I think... my car's at home can't check). my car would not boost and it would fall flat, run like crap and sputter along until I changed that relay.
|
Do not go jumping pins on any round rubber relay socket that can rotate in it's mount because someone "thinks" the one's relating to hand positions on a clock may work.
Do that and you have a good chance of more wires burning up. I have no idea whats going on with that wire mess in your pictures. Good luck with it. |
+1
what a freaking mess! looks like a lot have been spliced and then either melted or the insulation got scraped away. |
