newbie....

Hi..... New to Pelican... I'm anthony.... I have been looking for a 911...

for the last 6 months.. looking, looking and looking......
reading posts.... talking and getting opinions....(stay away from this year, don't buy if it leaks, walk if its been modified) stuff like that...

Is there some insight on what to be aware of with each model ??? looking at 1978-1994

I think first thing is your budget

If money is no object then buy the best one that you like the look of regardless of year
Or
If your on budget like me then buy the best worse one you like the look of you can afford and fix her up

In the Year range you mention i don't think there are any models to stay away from, So i would assume based upon Porsches progression and their constant improvements the car to buy would be the newest one perhaps? i say this in the view that your buying one to drive and not hug?

Also Your covering 2 completely different types of cars in those years, more if its not only a Turbo model your after hard choice as theyre all very different cars

The best buy would be a hi mile car that is well taken care of by its owner, find one bone stock if you can.
Good hunting!

They all can leak. All the leaks can be fixed. They might spring a new leak , that can be fixed too. A little leak is not a problem except to clean up. There are good and bad examples in all of your year range.i have 2 and neither leak.

IS300, I would advise that you do the opposite to what TJ suggests above () - buy the most heavily modded example that your budget allows as these cars (I'm referring to the Turbos as this is the 930/turbo forum) are much more enjoyable with an additional 130-150 hp and then you do not have to go about hunting down, and buying, the components that will get you there (although, that is fun, too).
