Engine Number 6870538
Dear All,
I have owned the engine and gearbox for 7 years now and in that time I have had to put it into storage due to ill health. I now have recovered and wish to try and track down the matching VIN/Chassis and reunite them. I have spoken to the moderator of the 930 Turbo Registry who suggested trying the Porsche Factory to see if they would release the details of the matching chassis. I was wondering if any of the geniuses who read or contribute to this great site/community would have any ideas to help me track down the matching chassis? Regards to all, Tom McCarthy |

Close, if it was 461 we could talk, that is the one missing from my 77 turbo.
My VIN ends in 477, I don't know if that will help or not. Glad to hear you have recovered.

Tom,
Couldn't the Porsche Club of Great Britain do a reverse look-up, of sorts to find the chassis ID? I may require joining the club, but may pay for itself in the long run.

Gents,
Many thanks for the help, one important thing I forgot to mention was the fact I bought it from the US and it was confirmed to be "US spec" turbo 930/53 with 245bhp. I will ask Porsche UK next week to see what help they can offer. I am in two minds what to do with it at the moment. I don't want to build a car round it if I or someone else can use it to better effect with the original chassis. Appreciate all the help and good wishes! Regards |
