Question Heater fan running always?

1989 930.
The heater fan is running when you shut the engine off but in key position 1. Heater dial set to off (0).
Anyone run into this?
I can turn the fan on full and it does go full then back off and it stays off only for a few seconds. Then it starts itself on very low and remains there till I turn the key off.....

The electrical systems in these cars is the worst I've ever seen. The Bosch parts are good quality but the Porsche wiring is dangerous and pathetic in places.
Oh well, they do make good fast and reliable race cars.

So you're talking about the footwell blowers? Are they both staying on?

No other heater fan that I'm aware of.

I think mine does it too.

when I start my car I hear a whine or squeal. if I turn the heater up to hi then back off if stops.
its like the fan is on low when off and is making noise, but turning the fan to hi makes it stop, then it goes back to running on low but it is now quiet.

I have the car off the road and on stands to do my yearly work on it. (putting AC back in and fixing an oil leak) but now I am going to take the heater controls apart to check them out.

need to finish some work on the house too. pouring concrete Friday, building a deck and going to put railroad ties down to line part of my driveway and put down coquina (?) rock. also need to paint, I want to take my old 2 storke mower apart to see why it lost compression. (think neighbor put regular gas in it).

If the car has auto heat there's a weird little fan assembly behind the ashtray with a foot long piece of clear pvc hose connected to the small round vent to the right of the steering column. It seems like it runs all the time as it sucks air in through the little round vent in the dash and
I guess it blows a little interior air across a small thermostat to control the old auto heat unit... if it still works.

Smart people yank that silly old pla$tic garbage and backdate to the old mechanical lever system to pull the diverter cables that worked simple and perfect.

when it starts costing me money I may backdate.

there is a pretty good write up on the system here already.

My auto heat makes the same noise / squeal on cold start that T77911S's does. I jiggle it and it goes away. It doesn't seem to do it when hot.
