Question To stop a thief....

Which is easier... pulling a relay? Or possibly a fuse?
Reason I am asking is a 944 was stolen out of a garage and it made me think.

which would be the best and easiest to stop someone from driving it away while it is in the garage?
Here is the link to the stolen 944. Stolen 944 - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Presuming a person can get into the cabin, and pop the hood, then I would pull both fuel pump relays as opposed to the fuse. The tab from a beer can can be used to bridge the fuse gap (don't ask me how I know).

Probably better yet is a steering wheel lock

Best solution is a hidden kill switch, in line with power or ground to ignition or fuel pump relay. All my equipement at work and my cars are rigged this way, along with the doors unlocked so they don't dammage anything other than the ignition switch if they try. There have been 3 attempts on my work truck with obviously no success...

We used to have roadblockers behind the garage doors. Simple and effective: close the door and put a blocker (smal pillar) on the inside of the garage just behind the door.
Only downside: they need a foundation twice the size of the roadblocker itself.

I've found a M1911 strapped to the steering column and wired to the clutch pedal works well.

Quick disconnect steering wheel hub is pretty effective, too. It'll be a real trick to drive away in a car with no steering wheel.

When going out of town, I put my car up on my lift, hide the lift pump and controls, lock the lift lock, remove fuses and disconnect intake hoses.
As many discourages as can be.
I have had a 911 stolen and returned and it was not as cool when I got it back. I don't care if it's insured, it's not fun to have one stolen.

16Volt: I would love to see someone boosting an early 930 using that to steer. Probably won't make the end of the block if he's in a hurry.

How about putting a non working relay in place of a working one? If they actually take the time to look at the panel everything will seem to be in order whereas if you remove the relay they will see that immediately

a thief would have to take the time to try to figure out why it would not start. don't think they are going to get out their MM and schematic and start working on it..

This **** is funny... thank you for the laugh guys. All that great until they have a tow truck... so, a lift with a lock is best or a quick release steering wheel is a good one too.

Try to steal something out of my garage. I'll pull up the lawn chair and pop corn. Chance to use that Obamacare I pay so much for.

A long time ago at another location a very unfortunate fellow tried out his skills at dishonesty, didn't work out so well. Muffin brought me a very bloody blue jean pant leg as her prize.

No way to stop them, if they really want it. I have had two 911's stolen, one they followed
me to a joint were I used to frequent, went out after a few hours....no car!, bad **** been stranded at the middle of the night., ....the other cruising around, stopped at a light, suddenly a shinny S&W pointing at me, just got carjacked....uff...again, element of surprise...how do you can protect against that!!!..Cheers.

Ha! No his shredded leg went with him to the hospital. Must suck to have a bad limp in prison.

Geez 993 sounds to me like you need to move to a better area!
