Broke a cv axle

Yesterday I broke my cv axle while accelerating. How much horsepower can they normaly hold? Do I need stronger ones or just buy new original ones?

I had the same thing happen. I went with stock but if the price is similar I would upgrade. Im sure others will chime in and give more informed advice but the stock cv has worked good for now. BTW my car has probably 350 HP at the wheels? Oh its been about 7 years since it broke its been good since then.
Good luck.

AFAIK, Eddie Bello makes well over 1000whp with stock axles.I'd say that's a fluke?

Stock axles are the way to go. Reason is it acts like a fail safe. I'd rather break an axle than the transaxle. Eddie has used stock axles always for the above reason. A little trick he use to do, is add a pinstripe to a set of axles. That way he could tell how much twist was in them. Too much twist, it will eventually break. The only thing aftermarket axles provide is custom length while still using stock CV joints. The offroaders use 930 CV"s, and they are the main reason custom length axles are even made.

Always reinstall them so they rotate in the same direction when car is moving forward under load. If they are removed and reinstalled so they are turning the opposite direction under load it greatly increases the chance of them breaking like this.

How did this happen? Hard launch or were you just doing 2-3-4 pull? I have a G50-01 in my car and my fail safe is the 315's breaking loose under 1.3 bar of boost in 2nd.

When I ripped the bolts out of the axle flanges, the shaft smacked my throttle linkage and mangled it. But, mines a 3.2 Carrera, not sure if the 930 has the same linkage?

Sorry for the late response... happened while shifting to second gear... normally when shifting to second, wheels spin a bit... it did but when she took grip the axle broke. Good point about keeping the axles on the same side and directions. I didn't hear anything of a sound when it happened and no other damage is found. Luckily
