930 transmission mount rubber replacement?

I see Pelican does not seem to list replacement mount rubber for the 930 transmission. Do any of you have any leads or is it possible to pop out the original 930 mounts and install one of the engine mount parts Pelican does list?

I know on my G50 the trans mounts were supposedly not able to be upgraded but in the end the Pelican Polygraphite engine mounts are a straightforward replacement. Is there a similar simple solution for the 930 transmission?

Yes, thanks. I was looking for a less expensive solution. Popping in a couple of poly blocks should be about 1/4 of the wevo price and no welding would be required. Just looking where to source the parts for the replacement rubber pucks.

It's worth it.

+1 on the Wevo solution. It's worth it. Excellent solution. Send them your mounting bar. They remove the old rubber mounts, powder coat it and install new semi solid (blue) or close to original (black) mounts. Call them because they for some reason don't show it on their web site.

This is an old thread, but haven't found another thread that addresses a 930's transmission mount replacement.

My '79 had original rubber mounts installed (cracked rubber). After searching and finding minimal info online, I saw a few posts talking about Rebel Racing as an alternative to doing the full Wevo rebuild / mod. I've been trying to keep my modifications performance enhancing but non-permanent - after seeing how hard / expensive it is to get an OEM fully assembled mount, I opted for seeking out just new bushings instead of permanently modifying my existing unit.

There's a pretty helpful video on YouTube that shows a guy replacing his 930 trans bushings by taking a pair of what looks like 915 mounts and pressing the bushings out for re-inserting into a 930 cross-member. I didn't end up exactly on this path, although I had figured that I'd be pressing the new bushings into the cross-member, wherever I sourced the bushings from. I went with the Rebel Racing "black" units, based on a lot of positive comments, asked Clint a few questions to confirm my thoughts, and they arrived quickly. This can probably be considered a "blonde moment" on my part, but I didn't put 2 & 2 together to figure out that "semi solid" most likely means that the bushing is split in half so it doesn't require pressing into the cross-member.

I haven't re-installed the mount yet, as my reason for doing this mini-project is simply because I needed the mount out of the way for replacing fuel lines - which I hope goes well today, as so far it hasn't been great. I embrace the power of the "search", but it can be a struggle sometimes to find info for older 930 projects, so I apologize if there's a posting I've missed that has this all described in detail.

Since this unit is split, should I apply any grease to each side? Or just dry fit? My cross-member is a bit cruddy looking - looks like it was originally painted black, was thinking maybe powdercoating is a better way to refinish it...?

Thanks,
Rob

This is pretty much what I did.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/755662-930-transmission-mounts-cushion-replacements.html

I spray painted the mount semi gloss black, looks nice reinstalled. If I had to do it again I would have powder coated, just for durability sake, but so far the paint is holding up fine +\- 2000 miles. No grease on bushings, but I don't see where that would hurt. Be prepared for a bit more noise in the cabin, the old rubber did dampen vibration noise better than the semi solids.

I was expecting the bushings to need pressing in, like you have done. But instead they came as two halves... I didn't go for the blue, but just the black ones. I trust that Clint sent me the right parts, as I explained they were for the 930 mount. I just didn't expect them to be split!

Anyone else used these split ones instead of pressing in the one-piece bushings?

Sorry if I was unclear, my are the two halves, no pressing involved, bought from rebel racing.

FYI: When I bought mine I had ordered the "blue", Clint sent me blacks, I called him and he told me they were both black as he was having trouble with discoloration in with the blue material. Since I was matching front to rear, he verified that it was the same stiffness as my blue fronts.

I believe "klefroid" made video on how to do this. Maybe he can share the video again as I can not find it.

I used the black Rebel bushings, no problems.

The "klefroid" video was gone when I did mine a couple of years ago. But I did watch it before it disappeared. I used the "sport" engine mounts, but had to remove the rubber inserts from the metal housings. Here my post to his thread:

klefroid,

I just used your method for changing the 930 transmission mounts. I tried to find the video you posted, I remember watching it, but could not find it. Anyway, I cut a 2.5" long piece of 3" diameter tube to rest against the top of the crossmember and pushed the old bushing out using a socket in my 5" vise. I removed the new rubber bushings from the -07 engine mounts I bought as you described in your video. I was concerned that the engine mount rubber was not as thick as the transmission rubber bushing I removed, but the center metal tube was the same length. I went ahead and installed the engine rubber bushing from the bottom of the crossmember using the 3" diameter tube, a socket and vise. I lubricated the rubber and crossmember with petroleum jelly. Everything looked fine after it was installed. My old bushing were soft and cracked, these are much more firm. How are these working in you car?
