Weekend Deliciousness

Drove this at Atlanta Motor Sports Park on Friday.

Then unpacked, inventoried this, and started planning (FrankenCIS goes with it):

Stock headers, intercooler, 1.0 bar spring in stock WG, B&B cat delete and muffler, K26.

Soon TK intercooler, Tial .8bar, K27HF, RarlyL8 headers, hooligan muffler, Fcis for extra fuel management.

I picked the Ferrari to drive as it is about the absolutely antithesis of the 930. Except a very similar brake feel.

Nice! Your parts list is almost identical to mine with the exception of my BLWUR. I also have a Grimm manual boost controller (mounted in engine bay to resist the temptation to turn up the boost while driving) and have it set at 1.0 bar. Definitely leaving some HP on the table at .8 bar as I can feel the difference. Good luck and post up as you make progress!

I picked the Ferrari because it is the absolute antithesis of the 930: refined, polite, smooth, and a great linear throttle response. The 930 is raw, uncouth, loud, rough, smells like leather and hot motor oilso, and the throttle response is absolutely non-linear. I love my 930 lol

I elected for 0.8 bar springs in the WG. I have 1 bar now with a K26, no idea what my AFRs are doing ATM.

I'm thinking about replacing my original injectors. I have the stock US 1986 fuel head with lambda and stock fuel lines. With the new goodies (turbo, headers, 'cooler) is there any advantage in going to euro injectors?

I have the stock US fuel head and injectors and have no issue with lack of fuel. If they are in good shape, there is no benefit to swap them out because you cant use more fuel than the US setup can deliver with these mods.

With your adjustable WUR, you should be able to dial in the AFR's without issue.

The easy upgrade for boost would be a Grimmspeed manual boost controller so you can more precisely dial in the boost to 1.0 bar while keeping your .8 spring in there. It's under $100.

458 is the best looking modern ferrari I think. The sound is amazing as well too.

The rest of those metal bits in the lower pic are pretty good looking as well.

How does this grimmspeed MBC work? I am guessing it goes in the signal feed to the wastegate? I have .9 bar tial WG spring now - would be able to dial up to 1.1 or 1.2 without needing to swap out springs?

Yes, you can add the MBC to increase the boost level over the WG spring level. 1.2 bar is a lot for stock internals though. Your over boost relay cuts out at about 1.2, so you really can't go that high without removing that. Kind of risky to do, IMO.

Love the 458 italia, had a chance to drive one a few years ago, such an amazing experience. Also love your new 930 mods. You'll love those upgrades!
