Correct tail for a 1977 3.0 Turbo
Did the early Turbo come with 2 different tail lids? Eraly with metal reenforced glassfiber and the later only glassfiber?
I can't find the answer.... ![]() Regards Clement |

The early turbo tail used a metal frame bonded to the fiberglass whale tail.

I’ve read conflicting info. I forget where, but lots of specific info on the early cars on fchat.

Metal frame only. They are stamped with the 930.xxx.xxx number on the backside in the metal frame
I believe the difference is also mentioned here between the otherwise similar 1974 NA carrera fiberglass wing vs. turbo 75-77, meaning all fiberglass was only NA carrera's for a limited time until the turbo was introduced

Even the 1974 NA Carrera's had a metal frame. I find it hard to believe that any 930 would not have metal frame... even if "part numbers" have been stamped into the fiberglass frame.
If had an all fiberglass frame whale tail with "part number" stamped on it, I would want to think it factory too...and sell it! Rahl |
