965 owners Test your ABS and do it regularly.
Hello Friends
We just had some snow in DC and I have a 300 foot long driveway, Perfect place to test my ABS, I took my 965 out this morning did a few tests runs and my ABS seems to work, The pedal did what I expected just like my 2017 Jetta that I test just prior to compare , I even opened the door to see if the rear ABS was working , All good, back in the garage she went. The exercise got me thinking. Firstly how many of us drive around not knowing if the ABS is working or not.. The only reason they would seize like this is because they haven't been operated on a regular basis? Conclusion...test your ABS and do it regularly.

Strictly speaking, and as I understand it, "kind-of". Not a prototype exactly, but the project number slated as being the "baby" 959. A few parts on the 964 Turbo have 965.xxx.xxx.xxx part numbers; off the top of my head, things like wheel arch liners.
The 965 was stillborn due to the well-known financial woes of the late 80's....not sure whether the Black Monday crash of '87 was influential in this; possibly. I think its fair to say that Porsche's fortunes had been on a downward trend for a while. As a way to generate cash with a halo model, Porsche then retracted on their previously declared position of the 930 being their final 911-based turbo model, much to the annoyance of new 930 owners who had invested in a last-of-line model. The 965 then "became" the 964 Turbo (never referred to as the Carrera 2 Turbo here in Europe, AFAIK, but a term commonly used in the US?)....with a 964 chassis mated to a 930 engine + emissions control bolt-ons to pass the most current legislation.....so 964 wasn't ever the 965, as it used the 911 chassis. ...That's my understanding, at least....

I ordered one - really nicely made piece of kit using an old ABS brain casing, you unplug your proper ABS unit, plug in this bright orange unit and follow his very comprehensive test routines by linking various ports, toggling things, measuring voltages at test points, etc. Does a full cycling of the ABS system to check everything's as it should be. I'll try and re-find the link. Ive not got around to using mine, it's still in my toolbox. Job for another month. ETA: That link>>> ABS Tester on Rennlist And also a link in the 964 forum

Yep, it certainly is a well thought out instrument, I'm dying to try it out myself. Next time the car is in the air on the lift, and the battery is charged....

Sure, I'll post back once I've got around to using it. From what I read on Rennlist though, it's nothing but positive feedback.
I saw someone mentioning a Bosch "Hammer" type tool that somebody has developed (obviously the originals are now very long gone and thin on the ground to source)....does anyone know of a Hammer-a-like development?
