Bad cam-tower news about my 3.2 Rebuild
Hi Everyone
After a previous problem with a spun crank bearing, seems my cam-towers are 'shot'. I had sent them to Ollies and Zach advises the bearings are too scored to rework. Looks as if some bits from the crank bearing made their way through to there. ![]() I'm really inexperienced at all this and not sure where to go from here with my baby. Zach recommended replacing them, so did some looking around and cam-tower pricing seems all over the place from $200 - $2000. With prices closer to the high-end for the 930 105 021 00 ones. Just wondered if anyone could give me some sage advise on what would be the best course of action or have any suggestions, please. Thank you Everything else is ready to go. Armand CCS redid the crank to std/std. Oil tanks and cooler cleaned by Pacific. Regards from a much cooler Dallas Mike |

You can use 3.0 SC or Carrera towers and 964 part numbers with 8 mm studs.
The early 3.0 were part number starting with 901 All were used on 3.0 and 3.2 and 3.3. Bruce |

Thanks for the reply and advice, Bruce; I was not aware of those as options. If I understand you correctly,
I can use the 964-105-111- 964 cam towers, with my 8mm studs. That really helps Sorry but a bit confused about the SC you mention. The only reference I can find for SC cars is the same 930 105 021 00 used in the Carreras (parts catalog). So it sounds like there is a 901 part number with the 4 bearing configuration? Thanks mike |

Early sc’s may have a 901 beginning part# later sc’s switched to beginning 930 part number. You can use either for your engine is what he’s saying.

Thanks Everyone for the replies. Appreciate the help very much.
Good to know I have some alternatives. Phew! these things are pricey. I'm still not sure about the early SC 901 part number but all the ones starting with 901 that I've seen are from much earlier cars with 3 bearing. Pity, as they are quite a bit cheaper I did find a pair supposedly in excellent condition for $1900 but still looking for hopefully something cheaper Mike |
