Oil Pump Choices

Hi Guys

I have a twin plug 3.2 with 10.5:1 102mm JE Pistons and JB Steel bore cylinders, DC80, Carrillo rods etc. The motor will see a healthy mix of road and track. We have done a few oiling upgrades (cross drilled crank, enlarged oil gallery etc) and want an oil pump to suit. I have been advised the 930 is NLA and was looking at a 964 pump. Any other options I should consider?

I have been advised there are two 964 pumps, one magnesium and one aluminium. I assume the aluminium one is the way to go?

Kind regards Tom

For the pricing of the C2 pumps, wear characteristics, customer went with GT3 pump.
The case web needs to trim out slightly to fit the backside of the pump because of the extra scavange pickup.

The GT3 pump was designed to create crank case vacuum which is a difficult condition to create so why try. My favorite pump for all these hot hod builds is the 996, twin turbo pump. In essence a 964 oil pump made out of aluminum rather than magnesium.

Keep in mind that in most applications the Carrillo rods will hit the standard an unmodified pump. You can modify the pump as Carrillo recommends but we prefer to modify the rods.

Is this only a issue with the 3.2 crank?
I have Carillo rods on a 3.0 crank and dont remember having a clearance issue.
just checking that I am not crazy.

Carrillo's will hit on any stroke longer than 70.4mm. I'm sure that there are variances, but that's my experience. 3.2 and 3.3 with their 74.4mm arm for sure will need clearancing somewhere, otherwise the crank won't turn when you put it together.

I can confirm the above statement. Ask me how I know! 74.4 crank with Carrillo rods and 930 oil pump. #6 cleared, #2 didn't.

Can anyone tell me the part number for the 996TT pump?

Does it need different seals than stock SC or any other parts? Off course it needs the shorter shaft to the intermediate gear.

Thanks

Pump is 996 107 008 70, Shaft/dumbbell is 930 107 143 03. If you have an older SC case you'll need a new sump plate.

Yes I have a carrera 3.0 case so need the sump plate. Thanks!

My local supplier also has the 996107129701R pump. https://www.vankesselsportscars.com/en/motor/olie-systeem/olietank-en-oliepomp/96410701114-oliepomp-36-motor-964-en-993.htm

Is this also a good option?
