Cant separate engine from trans

Hi. I'm pulling the engine on my 'new' 1970 911T. I've got everything disconnected, and the engine dropped down a foot or so. It separates about half an inch, then sticks. No ammount of pulling or tugging seems to get it to let go.

I think the half an inch is the clutch moving, but the shaft seems to be jammed.

What do I have to do to get them apart?

I have to drop the trans anyway, so I may just bolt them back together and pull them both out, then deal with separating them out of the car.

Thanks,
Jeff

it's a pain to do engine only on 70 and 71, because you have to pull the fork past the throwout bearing and turn the bearing 90° to get it out of the clutches of the fork. hard to do in the car thru a small hole on top of the bellhousing.

Just bolt it back together and drop the transmission and the engine. On my first engine drop I removed the engine and the transmission because in many ways it's easier. Its also easier to join them together out of the car.

That's what I did, it was actually easier doing both, with one jack under the trans and one under the engine.

Thanks for the help!

Jeff
