Pauter longer con rods in a 3.2/3.6
Has anyone here used the Pauter 133.4mm connecting rods as opposed to the factory 127mm sized rods in a 3.2/3.3/3.6? They stock these as well besides the regular size, and they can also be had to work with the 2" chevy nascar rod bearing. Just looking to get some feedback.
I am a big fan of longer rods, especially since the 3.2/3.6 rod/stroke ratio is not as good as the 3.0 for high revs, and longer rods help the bottom end live at higher revs (less rod acceleration and better operating angles). I have used longer rods in a BMW 2.0 liter engine before, stretched from 135mm to 144mm with a 80mm stroke, and the engine is a real powerhouse. RUF also supposedly used longer rods. If I get good feedback, I'm planning to go with them. Thanks in advance. |

I dont know the length of my Pauter rods, that I used in my motor, but I bought them from JB racing in Florida... My rods use the 2" chevy bearing ( a TON of bearing selections out there as Nascrap uses them). With my upgraded bore (98mm) and my crank being offset ground, it now has a 78.8mm stroke. Very clsoe to a 3.6L...and should have more torque as the longer stroke than that of a factory 3.6L. My oil pump needed to be clearanced a little... but not bad...
JB racing did all of the motor work, I, along with the help from DonE, put the motor together ourselves...

Is there enough room to move the wrist pit about 6mm closer to the piston top?
Do 911's have offset rods? If not, this could achieve some of the same thing. A few hard core builders have added spacers and chain extension to widen the motor. I remember seeing pics of one motor in a 914 race car with seams on both sides of the fan housing. It may have just been aloy A/C tape. |
