Distributor bung

Hi all

I have fitted a direct fire ignition system to my 1988 coupe and no longer require the distributor, so I want to remove it and bung up the hole. Does anyone have a drawing of an aluminum bung that I can machine up to do this job?

I know I can pull out the dizzy and measure it all up and make one but that means taking the car off the road for a couple of days

I think Smart or JB racing sells them. Works well but be sure to lube up the o-ring (hehehe) or else you won't be able to remove it without splitting the case.

You dont need to take it off the road, just measure the outside diameter of the distributor and re-install it.

If you do make your own you might weld/machine a loop or hook on it for easier removal.

Make me one too...but I don't want to have anything outside the distributor hole, meaning no need to bolt it to the adjustment stop bolt. Just a bung that is locked somehow in place.

I have thought and had the idea to glue it in (using a loctite of some sort) and then drill two small holes in the case at the bung location to pin it in for sure.

Likely overkill....

I will knock a couple up, maybe with a threaded blind hole so I can screw in a bolt if I need to pull it out.

This is a picture of a factory plug. The engine is a 993 GT2. Same 30mm hole in case. The plug as I remember had a 996 part number on it.
