901 gearbox

OK I know this topic has been covered before here but could do with a little point in the right direction, i have found a 901 gearbox for sale and have today seen it in the flesh numbers under the box on the rib are 901/7 and 7191947 in addition to these there is a small casting circle with the numbers 25/68 in it, what does all this mean ? the box is said to have been rebuilt and the seller says hes got the paperwork, he wants £1k....!!! worth it ? any help much appreciated: cheers

The 901/7 is a 5 speed transmission with the gears A (11:34), F (18:34), M (22:29), S (25:26), Z (29:23). Good gears, but not uncommon so no extra value there. If the tranny is recently rebuilt with all new synchros by a good shop and he has documentation, I would say it is a fair price.
