Angry removing alternator???

Thanks in advance for the help. It seems that I am always asking questions. Hopefully I will get to the point in the knowledge curve that I can start answering questions for others.

The pictures of the detailed engines were great, so i decided to remove the alternator from the blower housing in order to powder coat the fan and the housing. BUT, the alternator refuses to come out, even after I showed it the pictures of an alternator without the blower housing in the Bently book and the Haynes book.

Is this a case of needing a bigger hammer (again)? removing the long bolts didn't seem to make a difference, and I cannot find any other fasterner. Is this a pressure fit? Just put PB blaster on it and tap with a hammer? engine is 2.2 l 911E 1970.

Not the hammer. I am also curious about this as I used a hammer and a punch to get mine out and broke a few ribs on the back of the alternator (I am replacing anyway).

Use the "drop method"

Strategically place some pieces of scrap wood about the same distance apart as the diameter of the fan housing. Drop the fan housing and alternator assembly face down from a few feet high onto the scrap wood. Alternator comes out easy this way. Put down a towel of something so it doesn't hit your concrete floor or driveway.

The drop method works for me but it took me 27 years before I heard about it and that cost several alternators along the way.

It was AMAZING! three gentle drops from about four inches above the boards, and the alternator slide free.

Thanks.
