AS for transplants, if your ticker is on its way out, I am sure you would approve of a transplant. Renegade Hybrids has a kit for installing eithr a V8 or V6 into the 944. As owner of a 944, I find the engine the weakest part of the car. Porsche did not do a really good job on that design!! BTW..the Audi 20V is, with minor mods, a direct drop in for the 924 and the early (at least) 944). I am not a purist. I look for the best engineering I can find. I have tried to get a machine shopinterested in the VR6 idea. It would be ideal for the "purists".

just wondering what other Audi/VW engines would fit or be a direct fit? like a
2.8 V6 12v or a 2.8 V6 30v
what parts would be needed for this swap besides engine, wiring harness,ecu, tranny, driveshaft(?), rear differential(?)
