That "lamp cord" is what is considered speaker wire. It is not stock, but if you have a custom stereo installed in your car, that type of wire is very likely what they are going to use. That's what my home stereo speakers are wired with, silver plus, copper minus. It is also what was used for speaker wire on the custom install in my 90 928 GT, and the Range Rover. It is higher gauge than the wire used in the device patch cables terminated with RCA phono jacks.
