Rick Atkins the owner and solo worker of Ragtime Aero here in Placerville completed ground run-ups of his personal airplane. Rick is known worldwide for his unbelievable vintage aircraft restorations. He and his operation was featured in the Air & Space publication when they did a story on the Howard Aircraft, which he is specially known for. The best part is the simple fact he has to be one of the nicest guys I know.
His plane is a Monocoupe. Only 7 came from the factory in this configuration and the rest were converted. They were used for racing back in the day and the are incredibly fast. This has been an eight year spare time project and is absolutely gorgeous. Like everything he touches, nothing short of shear artwork.
The pictures do not do this justice. The detail is exquisite. The sound of that vintage radial is music to the ears.
