If you have a smooth plastic tray in the mount, then the glass fell out.
If you have a metal tray with three holes for the plastic tray to fit into, then its ready for a replacement tray/mirror.

What I have is

I have 3 holes with about 1/2 inch of round Plastic around the 3 Holes IE: NO Tray !
A Tire Blew Out with Car on Trailer . The Tire Blew off the Trailer Fender and it hit the Mirror of the 928 on Trailer loosing the Mounting a bit . Fender was some several Hundred yards Back on side of Freeway . Mirror Glass " And now I know a Plastic Tray was gone never to be fond by me .
I have 2 Good " White Doors ( I think 83 or 84 have Belt line trim ) with Good Mirrors on them but the wrong Color .
I am looking for a nice flexible Puddy Type Blade rather then a stiff one.
Then I well attempt to remove one from the Mirror .
I am Hoping it well remove without braking . Hummm
Excellent Information here thanks so much , I am wondering if their is a way to loosen the Mirror from the Plastic Mounting Holes ?
Like spray in some Lube . I kind of doubt you can reach the right spot unless I remove the complete Mirror and submerge it in some Lubricant Bath over night .
