aluminum - is this is what your looking at? - the 3 clips fit into the holes with arrows - the clips look like the one in the middle of the picture - this is a pass. side mirror - press in on the glass on the upper inside - this will push the lower outside out - I have found this gives you the best angle to get the putty knife in to release the outer clip - probably don't need a flexible knife as you are going to have to pry it pretty good - try spraying some wd40 with a straw around the clip holes - as I said it's iffy - if you can get the clips starting to release go ahead and try a wide screwdriver right at the clip - that way you won't be prying on the glass as much - these mirrors are two laminated pieces of glass - one is mirror the other is the heater - I have seen the heater layer crack while leaving the mirror intact - will work great as a mirror but you lose the heater
