Charles, I would strongly suggest finding a local FFL since you are in MD and I imagine they have some fairly complicated firearms laws along with the Federal laws that cover crossing state lines. Make sure to tell that person you are a family member and if possible show any paperwork that covers the inheritance. I never rely on advice from ANYONE other than out longest serving FFL in the San Diego area, especially from a BBS, even a gun BBS.

If lucky, very lucky, I would hope you have to do no complicated stuff. I would also suggest shipping them in hard cases, double cardboard outside and go UPS ground, signature required and emails for each stop. I have shipped 8 or 10 rifles and always use UPS ground and the hard case setup packed inside the case with foam peanuts so the rifle can never move. Good luck
