Wheeeee. Fun in the back yard Koi pond today.
The water started getting murky. We have a UV light that is in a inline part of the water circulation. It is like any bulb and burns out every year or so. So my wife "let" me take the bulb holder apart to replace the bulb. The picture above is what I found. One of the connectors was burned off of the bulb and the connector was toasted. Of course all the stores with parts close at noon. We made a run to the local Koi pond place and get a replacement connector and a new bulb. That is done and fixed.
Then I took the 911 for a last shakedown run before the mega trip. It is a 31 year old car with 160,200 miles on it. What other 31 year old car on the planet would you want to take on a 5,000 mile or more trip? Nothing else comes to mind for me.
One thing I was interested in really checking was the AC. It is only 86 degrees with 79% humidity out there but that was all I had to test in.
If you look at the top of the return to the compressor line it has a coating of clear ice on it. You can see the layer of ice is broken where I rubbed it with my finger. It was blowing 40 degree air at the vents inside. The dashboard was so hot I could not hold my hands on the dash for more than a couple of seconds. It was full sun blue skies heat.
Everything seems to be ready so all I have left is packing the car and getting Mrs Carrera to roll north into the land of Yankees.
