Personally, I travel to see the world and to do adventurous things I can't do at home. I'm not a foodie, so I could not care less what the locals eat.
For example, I ate a lot of $2 pizzas in Queenstown NZ last year (ok, I did eat some fish and chips too), but I was willing to splurge on helicopter trips and paragliding and stuff.
