There is a hard rock cafe at the far west end of orchard rd. about a mile east there is Lawrys prime rib. there is Astons on Orchard link. I will be there in August for a couple of weeks for work. I usually stay at the Orchard Hilton and have never had any trouble finding western food. If they are up for an adventure, they should try one of the underground food courts. there is a huge one under the ION at scotts rd. their hotel concierge can tell them the best places though.
