My sock solution is to just buy them all the same, about thirty pairs of white ones, then you never even match them- toss 'em in the drawer. The old ones make great applicators for tire cleaner and "Armor All."

Same thing with dress socks, just buy all the same in each color you wear. Old ones are rags.
