My wife picked this up at a yard sale for $15 at the weekend. She sent me a photo of it and said that the owner states it needs a battery. I said for $15 sure, I'll stick a battery on it and try to get it going.
My oldest kid is fairly excited, she wouldn't normally be getting something like this. I really think the pedal stuff is more fun and better for her.
Anyway, it arrived at the house, and in addition to a battery, it needs a motor and a drive train of some kind!
The rear axle is too long, almost as if there is something missing that used to take up width on the axle. Perhaps some kid of shiv or gear ?
Any thoughts on the best way to 're-power' this thing on the cheap. (if I wanted to spend $300 on this I'd buy a new one!)
Real engines are out for a variety of reasons.
Belt drive? 12v / 6v ?
I looked up Hedstrom (the manufaturer), but the company went bust in 2004 and only the bouncy ball division is still in tact.
Any thoughts on how I can connect the wheels to that throttle switch are appreciated. She's already asking 'Daddy, have you fixed it yet?'
