We had the same problem with our 944 when we bought it.. gas smell when windows down...

sounds stupid, but whoever had owned it b4 us had drilled through the floor of the trunk ( probably for speakers or something), and right through the gas tank. when full or cornering with a full tank of gas it would spalsh around and soak the carpet ... lift it up and check just in case.

anyway we just sealed up the holes on the floor so at least it doesn't smell inside the car anymore..

hmm i wonder if i should replace the gas tank.
