My vet cautioned me to be very patient during the recovery. With successful surgery, the dog will be feeling very frisky within days. Healing takes, 8 to 12 weeks. Don't give into the urge to restrain the dog. Daisy was in a 6 x 8 pen during the day for at least 4 weeks, limited walks after that and we followed the doctor's order to the word. At the two week check up, we witnessed another lab that did not stay restrained and pulled out the screws. She was going to have to go through the procedure all over again.

As others have said, it was worth it. Daisy is like a pup again, but it was a long road to recovery.

Oh, and we dropped her weight down with a strict diet.

Best wishes with the surgery and recovery.
