Not sure if this helps, but some other thread had mentioned removing and saving the adaptor that comes with the the fuel filter when replacing with new. The adaptor is used with converting to 044 fuel pumps. That piece looks awfully close to the same piece.
BTW IIRC it was a very hard part to find, but I think someone had found it at earls. You may want to contact Len (boxergt) he might be able to help.
