Backing on to a virgin 'dry vine forest' micro-climate part of Queensland Wet Tropics where those are self sown - via birds or bats maybe - we were sold on something called a 'Manilla' palm; shorter and fatter and if anything even lower-maintainence. Gardening-wise the worst are dirty old Fish-Tails, and what's known as Golden Cane ...
