I can't disagree but you have to be brave to be a professional boxer.

I think he simply didn't want to serve. For whatever reason he had better things to do and he used his religion as an excuse.
He made it sound all political and such but IMO the reality was once he said no he kept adding reasons. He should not have done that.

Even Elvis served!
