I think that there are no perfect solutions- only the choices you make. I don't see any violence in this relationship(I am witnessing some of this in our neighborhood as a woman leaves her abusive wife beating husband). Only a good counsellor/psychologist can give you an independent viewpoint. I remember 30 years ago splitting up with the first wife and I felt the rug was pulled out from beneath my feet.
