The story gets even better. That motor used to belong to one of the rare factory Carrera RS lightweight cars. In fact it was VIN# 9113601423 Option 471(lightweight) in Light Ivory with Blue Carrera graphics. Originally built in 6/73 and was first delivered to Italy.

My guess is that the original car might have met it's demise in a race.

You should post this motor on the Early S Registry board as well as possibly contacting Jeff Starkey who wrote Porsche 911 R-RS-RSR just incase the car survived. The owner would surely make it worth your while to return the motor to the original car.
