Starting in 1998 all Subarus went hydraulic clutch. And in 2003 the gears were widened. There are both pull and push style clutches on different product lines. The pull clutch from a WRX has better clamping force and pedal feel.

I'm not sure anyone has ever made an adapter plate and flywheel to mate the Subaru gearbox to an air cooled engine.
