Just had to go through smog, hopefully for the last time her in CA, on my 75. Here is one approach.....
I went down to Home Depot and purchased a 3 foot flexible gas line with fittings intended for hooking your gas drier to the natural gas line.
Each end came with adapter fittings to convert larger line down to the 3/8 dimension of the flexible hose.
Using these, or other fittings, weld a 3/8" male fitting to the exhaust prior to the Cat or attach to the Cat EGR pipe.
Cut off the EGR pipe where it meets the engine wall and weld/brase another 3/8" male fitting to the small mounting plate there.
Then use the flexible gas line to connect the two points.
I also purschased some 3/8" end caps so I could remove the new "EGR pipe" after smog and cap off both ends of the run.
I passed visual and smog and the flexible line is off and filed away in case CA changes is 30 year rollilng smog exemption and I have to get smogged again
