Really learned to manage no money when in college. Went from owning outright an Audi 4dr sedan, a Plymouth hot rod, and a Ford van to a cheap 10 speed bike. The 10 speed wasn't even the really nice one I started college with. Sold it and got a much cheaper on from the classifieds. Did the same thing with my TV. Sold my good one and got a big color TV that the sound didn't work and a small B/W portable that only the sound worked. The were both really cheap. Got the B/W tv for the sound because it was cheaper than the tubes to fix the sound on the color one.
Cheated a little to make ends meet. Found it took the local grocery store 3 days for a personal check to make it to the bank. A few times I cashed a check at the grocery store to cover a check I had cashed at the grocery store to pay my bills.
Food was never a problem since I worked at a restaurant.
After college borrowed money a for a car, not because I needed the money but to establish credit for a house.
Only got into money trouble once. It was when I got changed from bi-weekly to monthly on my paychecks. Kinda caught me by surprise. Had to go almost a week really scrimping to eat. Did have a full tank of gas though.
