Ok, I exaggerate, I might have shifted up two cogs at one point but I didn't stay there long before I was back in the granny gear and out of the saddle trying with all my might to go fast enough not to tip over.
Granny gear for 2 hours!
I didn't make it very far and me and my spindly legs were beat by the time I took a shortcut home.
Suddenly I smelled strawberries and thought I was having a stroke!
(It turns out the spring crop is just blooming and kids were out picking with their moms and dads a km or so away). Phew!
As for mother nature?
I'm officially throwing away any form of speed measuring device for fear of offending her again...

it really messes with your mind. We had some pretty strong wind today. I just walked into the house from a 30 mile ride. All head wind (so it seemed). I was dead and had no more in my head to do another lap with little in the tank.
