Interesting. Consider me one of the handful of people who have encountered problems with Durametric. With the help of the Durametric techs, I think we understand what happened, at least in my case.

I bought the Durametric Enthusiasts Package a number of years ago and and ran it from an old Acer Aspire “netbook” with Windows XP installed without problems other than that the Acer was so slow. A couple of years ago my wife acquired an ASUS laptop (i7 Intel) running with Windows 7 (since updated to Windows 10). This laptop has both USB2 and 3 ports on it. The Durametric software would do nothing but crash, as described by NSW911, when I attempted to run it on this computer.

I conferred with the Durametric support staff and sent them my cable. They confirmed that it was OK and returned it, but the problem still persisted. After a while, they concluded that the problem was the architecture of our PC that included the USB3 port. Turns out it did not matter if I connected the Durametric cable using the USB2 or USB3 port, it still crashed. If I remember correctly, shortly after this, Durametric added a disclaimer on their website stating that there might be a problem of software incompatibility for computers having USB3 ports. I have not revisited the problem with the newer computer, but have gone back to using my old Acer netbook. Requires patience.

I must say that I got full cooperation from the Durametric folks throughout this process.

Good luck.
