Mrs WD and I were in northern Illinois photographing a cover for our magazine. It is a 1916 Emerson - Brantingham model L. The Model L was not one of agricultural technology's higher achievements, but this is a beautiful restoration of one of the 3 known to exist.
E-B made their own engines and carburetors. A good carburetor was a big, big deal in those days, as the technology wasn't well understood.
My assistant, taking a break.
While we were there we shot this great old Stinson tractor too. It is also one of 2 or three in existence. The transmission is one huge iron casting that weights about 4000 lbs.
