Why oh why would people take a thin, elegant, minimalist object and clad it in a huge, obnoxious, clunky-looking shell? I personally can't stand the otter boxes (and others) for that reason - it's like taking your 911 and sticking a Chevy small block 350 in it and maybe adding a pickup truck bed for good measure.

If you want to justify it to yourself from "practicality" standpoint then fine, up to you but personally I can't stand anything that adds bulk, chunkiness or heft. One of the things that always has attracted me to the iPhone's is the industrial design aspect - which is excellent. They put a lot of thought into the appearance and "sex appeal" of their products even admittedly at the expense of some ergonomic considerations.

Do what you will but it always makes me laugh to see people with these slim, sleek, sexy phones stuck inside a 1" thick, coffin-like pocket brick.
