I never knew that icemakers die when the water is shut off. That almost doesn't make any sense. As an aside, we are planning to install a commercial bagged ice machine in a walk in cooler. My equipment guy says that will never work. I'm not sure why. But he did say it needs a floor drain, water, and power. I'll ask him what happens if the water supply line freezes and there is no water to the unit.
