930 alternator issue
Ok guys, did I do something that killed my alternator? My '89 Turbo has been having starting problems. Ignition at stage 2 nothing happens, at stage 3 the rear FP will work, but very loudly and would not stop (doesn't it suppose to stop after 1-2 secs.?) whereas the front FP is completely silent. I checked pin 30/87 of the relay socket of the front FP, and there was 12V coming through, so at stage 1 of ignition I jumper 30/87 of the front FP and the front FP functioned, so I left it on for 2 seconds to get some juice into the fuel line, and the car started right away. Afterwards however, the Alternator warning light illuminated and stayed on!! Did I fry something??
Incidentally, any diagnosis on my starting problem? No relay click under the driver's seat, as the previous owner apparently deleted the over speed rely.. Should I suspect Factory Alarm? Every time I retrieve the key from ignition the alarm chirps three times, regardless of the doors being locked or unlocked.
Will, if the alt. warning light came on out of other reasons, and was irrelevant of me jumping the FP relay, can I use this method as emergency saver?
Yours.
