Ivory, I'm pulling for you to sort it out.
I have a 68 that was having charging issues and after reading here, and other forums, I bought the alternator conversion. I just don't want to hassle with the more "sensitive" generator, and I have the smaller diameter gen to make matters even more complicated.
I did the alt conversion on a type I years ago and never had charging issues again, so that made the 912 alt conversion a no brainer.
Of course, I haven't installed it yet so hopefully I didn't just jinx myself
