Sweet ride.
Some people assume I have a huge stack of receipts for my cars. I don't. I do the vast majority of the work myself. I have a little notebook that I scribble what I did and the date and mileage for the El Camino. That notebook is almost full. I will have to start another notebook soon. For the 911 I just have electronic notes on my phone.
I don't take the car in for service, I just do what is needed, usually way before the recommended service interval.
I did an oil change on the El Camino yesterday. If my count is right I have done that over 100 times now. It takes me a couple of hours to do an oil change even with my lift. I never do just the oil change. I always lube the front end with the 6 grease zerks. Invariably I see some other item that can use some attention. I found one wire that the clip had failed that holds the wire in place and out of the way. I fixed that. I always inspect all the suspension parts and the brakes.
I always look around for coolant leaks. That vehicle has only had more strange coolant leaks that I can remember. Of course it is the only vehicle I have ever owned that uses antifreeze and a water pump. I check the power steering fluid level and inspect those hoses. It just goes on and on.
That is why I felt no qualms about driving 100 miles each way to Enid, OK on Sunday with a car that had 346,000 miles.
