Any time you start putting additives into your oil you are running a risk. Every oil has (for better or worse) its own additive package. Too much is as bad as not enough. That's why its better to not mix brands. Instead of fixing cheap oil, just buy a quality oil that has the package you need and you're good to go. For my `87, I use Schaeffers or Brad Penn. Quality base and good ZDDP levels.
