Psychology of "Baby on Board" sign

Here comes a rant....

I was overcome with a wave of annoyance at one of those "Baby on Board" signs a few minutes ago pulling into my work carpark.

Why would any rational person ever have one? If they believe it will cause other drivers to take more care around them.... then it implies they moderate their own driving for such a sign.

I don't want to be on the road with someone who modifies their driving for babies. I just want them to drive well, regardless.

Maybe it is some kind of status symbol - "The driver of this car has figured out how to reproduce, and wishes the world to be aware".

Parting shot - has anyone ever seen a "Baby on Board" sign on any vehicle other than an SUV?

End of Rant...
