I knew EXACTLY what that was when I saw the picture. For 6 years ('86-'92) I worked at the Texas Instruments Defense Group plant in Lewisville, TX which is precisely where the puppy above was made. When I was hired, they were just starting to ramp up production from a qty of about 10/month to several hundred per month. I worked in the RF Test Equipment group that was responsible for the testing equipment design and build for use in the anechoic test chambers. (example chamber picture below)
Edit: to clarify, the RF seeker/control system were manufactured at the plant above, other sub-components were provided by other defense contract mfrs.
