My preference is to push people to the 2009 and later 9A1 motored cars. The M97 cars can be great, we have even owned a few. But our 2 current ones both needed engine builds (997 S and Cayman S). I am not worried about them now that we have done the builds, but if I were shopping for another one I would go 997.2. This isn't to spread fear and hype like some do, and in reality the failure rate is extremely low, but if it were my money again, 9A1 it would be.
